Anyone who grabbed a flier at the winter classic with the 5 points quallifier dates on it PLEASE READ!!!!! I messed up on the dates for the first two hunts listed. I had them as March 14th and 15th when they should read May 14th and 15th. Below are the correct dates for the locations which I had wrong on the flier. Sorry about the mix up. If you know someone who grabbed a flier please let them know of this correction. Thanks. * SE Iowa: May 14th- Troy; Mid-American CHA
* SW Iowa: May 15th- Magnolia; Boyer Valley CHA |

1st Annual ISCHA Banquette
The Iowa State Coon Hunters held their 1st annual banquette on Feb. 20th 2010 in Jefferson Iowa. To say it was a success would be an understatement. We sold 107 tickets and had a full house. Everyone I talked to said the food was great and that they had a real good time. A huge THANK YOU to Jay Goughnour for providing an excellent hosting facility. Without Jay, Kasey Anderson, and Gary Lewis this event would have never gotten off the ground. Also I'd like to thank Ron Thompson and Troy Johnson. Those two guys got the ball rolling by pushing the idea and this year we finally made it happen. I know there are many more who helped out along the way and to everyone who had a hand in making this event happen....... THANK YOU! I would also like to say that without all of our members showing up and supporting this event it would not have been the huge success that it was. All the proceeds earned from this event will be used to help maintain our right to hunt and free cast our hounds. In the last few years the ISCHA has been involved actively in making sure we maintain those rights. At this time the ISCHA is trying to work with the DNR on some legislation that could adversly affect clubs holding nite hunts as well as the tie up law. Without the ISCHA the legislation we are now working on would have been as the DNR wrote it and the permitt fees for holding a nite hunt would have been $25 per event and they could have raised it whenever they wanted. This is why we have, and IMO need, the ISCHA...... to be aware of laws that affect us as coon hunters and have a voice when it is needed. Events like this banquette allow us to provide a good meal and social outing for our members while allowing us to raise some money to fight for our rights as needed. Again I thank you, the ISCHA members, for supporting the banquette. |
